ILSA, SHE WOLF OF THE SS returns to shock and amaze LA audiences!

Join us at the New Beverly Cinema on Friday, July 10th, and Saturday, July 11th, as the Grindhouse Film Festival pays tribute to exploitation film legend and good friend Don Edmonds, who passed away at age 73 on May 30th. We'll be celebrating his life and career, a career that took him from guest appearances on shows like "The Munsters" and "Green Acres" to co-starring roles in GIDGET GOES HAWAIIAN and BEACH BALL before he turned to directing in the 1970's with films like TENDER LOVING CARE, WILD HONEY, TERROR ON TOUR and the first two ILSA films. In addition to the huge impact he had on the exploitation film world, Don also worked as a producer on hit films like SHORT CIRCUIT, 8 MILLION WAYS TO DIE and TRUE ROMANCE.

We'll be starting the event with a screening of his infamous 1975 grindhouse hit ILSA, SHE WOLF OF THE SS. The best and most well-known of the "Naziploitation" genre, this over-the-top sleazefest made star Dyanne Thorne a cult icon and helped kick-start a series of similarly themed films that exploded out of Italy in the late-70's. We'll be following this with Edmond's 1976 sequel ILSA, HAREM KEEPER OF THE OIL SHEIKS, which transports our favorite tough Teutonic goddess to the mideast kingdom of Sheik El Sharif for a more campy but still incredibly sleazy experience. These two legendary films have been unseen in Los Angeles theaters for two decades, so don't miss this rare chance to watch original 35mm prints projected on the big screen with our usual crowd of maniacs.

As an extra bonus, we've added Don's gritty 1977 action film BARE KNUCKLES at midnight to expand this already amazing show into a mind- blowing triple-feature. We'll also have special guests introducing the films and talking about their work and friendship with Don Edmonds. Currently scheduled are ILSA star Dyanne Thorne (schedule permitting), HAREM KEEPER co-stars Howard Maurer and Marilyn Joi, and BARE KNUCKLES "killer" Michael Heit, with many additional guests to be announced before the event. We'll also be screening a tribute reel, celebrating Don's life along with his work as both an actor and a director.

This special event starts at 7:30pm each night, and admission for the triple-feature, tribute reel, and free raffle is only $10.00. You won't find a bigger bang for your entertainment dollar during this economic meltdown. So escape from your soon-to-be-foreclosed home and join the Grindhouse crew for a night of cinema insanity... Don Edmonds style!

It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Don Edmonds on Saturday evening, May 30, 2009. Fangoria has posted some news on his passing. Don was excited to start this website a couple years back as a means to promote his upcoming projects, yet updates were far and few between. Don's films were influential to many of us and with the help and support of his fans, this site will expand greatly soon to honor his memory and pay tribute to his creative works.
